What we do

We trim hedges. We reduce overgrown ones and reclaim the ones that have been neglected for years. We look after box and formal topiary. And we do the tree work behind the hedge line - pruning, crown thinning, deadwooding - with the right approach for Whitstable's coastal conditions, not a generic inland routine.

That's it. We don't do lawn care, fencing, or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges and trees are a craft worth being good at; we keep our focus narrow so we are.

Why local matters here

A hedge on Tankerton seafront or along Island Wall takes a direct hit of salt-laden wind that a hedge two miles inland in Chestfield never sees. The old town and harbour sit inside a conservation area with its own paperwork. The soil changes from free-draining shingle near the coast to heavier clay further inland, and that changes what actually thrives. A contractor who doesn't work this patch every week won't know any of that without being told.

We work here every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included where it applies. The species recommendations match what actually survives a Whitstable winter, not what a generic gardening guide suggests.

How we work

• Photos and postcode for an initial quote. We can give a fixed price for most routine trims without coming out. Reductions, reclamations and diagnosis jobs usually need a site visit (free, no obligation).
• Fixed-price quotes. No day-rate creep. If the job runs longer than we expected, that is our problem, not yours.
• Conservation-area paperwork handled. If your address is in the Whitstable Conservation Area and needs a section-211 notice, we file it. Cost included in the quote.
• All arisings cleared. We carry an Environment Agency upper-tier waste-carrier registration. Clippings are taken away or chipped, never burned on site.
• Bank transfer or cash. Invoice or receipt either way.

What you won't get

• A salesman trying to upsell you a "garden makeover."
• A quote that doubles when we arrive.
• A hard cut into brown wood to save time, when what the hedge actually needed was telling you straight that it won't recover from that.
• Guesswork on what's actually wrong with the hedge before we start cutting.
